“What is it like to be in love?”

“Free. It feels free, like there’s nothing that can stop me, nothing can hold me down.
It feels as if I can do anything because of love and I’m free of the fear of failure because,
even if I can’t do everything, at least at the end of the day,
there’s still me and him. When all else fails, love won’t.”

[00SJ30] The Perfect Plan

words: 1305
rate: PG13
(Final Day of the Fanfiction series.)

It was the last day.

30 days in total.

The challenge was completed.

What started as a hot-headed challenge thrown to the other fourteen members of Super Junior and Super Junior-M had turned into a fanfiction frenzy. Indeed, some had read more the past month than in their entire lives. What started as a seemingly harmless challenge had turned into something that had affected all of their lives; some for the good, some for the bad.

Mostly for the bad.

The members were all crammed into the dorm in which Heechul lived. Some were sitting on couches, the others on chairs by the dining table, a pair by the computer and, others still, sprawled on the ground since all other sitting areas had been occupied. Even with all the members present, Yesung still had the audacity to bring along one of his turtles. Granted, it took up no sitting space as it was happily kept on his head. The members did not question this.

“I can’t believe we actually finished the damn challenge,” Hankyung muttered from his place on the ground. Heechul sat behind him on a couch, absent-mindedly braiding the Chinaman’s hair,

“I can’t believe we actually have to call him ‘hyung’,” Eeteuk sighed from his seat at the dining table, “No one even calls me ‘umma’. Even Hongki hasn’t called me ‘umma’ for the past two days.”

“He’s hardly going to randomly call you up just to call you ‘umma’,” Kangin rolled his eyes,

“I, for one, am mightily grateful the challenge is over,” Shiwon added, “I can’t believe I questioned my faith for a bit just because fanfictions portrayed me as some bible pusher.”

“I can’t believe you’re still carrying that teddy bear,” Henry murmured as he laid on the ground, his fingers laced beneath his head,

“Now, I told you that Heechul is having a t-shirt made for you,” Yesung gently scolded the turtle he had retrieved from his head, “Patience, little one, patience!”

“Is it just me, or does he just get weirder and weirder?” Zhou Mi inquired, sitting across the table from Yesung, staring in pure befuddlement.

“I agree, I think he should have chosen a ‘Team Hankyung’ shirt instead,” Ryeowook said innocently, oblivious to what the other member had meant,

“They spend too much time together,” Eunhyuk said to the other members, sitting on one of the couches,

“Do you know who spend too much time together? You and Donghae,” Kibum stated aloud from his seat beside Kyuhyun as they sat before the computer together,

“Just spend more time with us and that won’t have to happen,” Donghae suggested lightly. He sat on the end of the couch closest to the computer and was able to reach out and gently pat Kibum on the back.

Shindong, who sat at the end of the dining table which faced the entire room, looked up from his laptop, “You know what I noticed? Sungmin is the only member who didn’t once complain to Heechul.”

“I have nothing against fanfiction,” Sungmin shrugged, sitting adjacent to him, “You all had complaints and, some of them did touch on me,” he ignored the sudden narrowed gaze from Zhou Mi, “However, I still have nothing against the stories, even after this past month. I enjoy reading them now, if anything…”

“How did you even notice that?” Kibum inquired, twisting in his seat to look across the room at Shindong, “I certainly would never have noticed that about Sungmin had you never said anything.”

Shindong shrugged as he looked back at his laptop.

“It’s because he’s been writing about us!” Kyuhyun exclaimed.

“What!?” The other members exclaimed as Yesung said excitedly to his turtle, “Yes, little one, a plot twist!”

Kyuhyun, eyes still glued to the computer screen, explained, “I found Shindong’s website… all his stories for the past month have been about us!” He murmured as he quickly scanned a page, “The Great Fanfiction Challenge… he’s been writing about this stupid challenge!”

Thirteen pairs of eyes glanced towards Shindong.

He, in turn, glanced towards the only member who wasn’t looking at him; “Heechul… seems like we’ve been caught.”

“You had to drag me in, didn’t you?” Heechul scoffed, “You were caught, I was not.”

The other members swung their astonished gazes to the person responsible for the challenge.

Heechul leaned back in the couch and sighed heavily, folding his arms loosely about his torso; “Well, I’m pretty sure everything you’re all thinking right now is close to the truth, if not dead on. Shindong came to me at the end of last month and was bemoaning the fact that he hit a writer’s block. His stories are actually quite popular amongst the fandom, so, after not updating for a few months, he was starting to feel… desperate.”

“Hardly desperate, but I was in search of new inspiration,” Shindong said, taking up the story from where the older man left off; “So, Heechul suggested what if we created our own inspiration. He would sow some seeds and I would reap the situations for my stories.”

When the members’ gazes slowly narrowed at him (with the exception of Sungmin who had already explained he had nothing against fanfiction and Yesung who was quickly explaining the situation to his turtle), Shindong leaned back in his chair and sighed, “It’s a very popular series, if it makes any of you feel better.”

“It looks like the most popular ones is… Mother Eeteuk and… um… nothing…” Kyuhyun trailed off as he suddenly tried to cover the screen from Kibum’s eyes,

“EUNHAE!?” He exclaimed, jumping to his feet,

“At least Kyumin isn’t one of the popular stories,” Zhou Mi stated, having walked over to the computer and looking over the list on the site,

“Too bad it’s one of the most popular in the fandom,” Donghae murmured, earning a scowl from Kyuhyun,

“I don’t make the pairings, I just write about them,” Shindong defended innocently as he returned his attention back to his laptop,

“That’s not true, you admitted to making the pairings yourself,” Eunhyuk accused, “You admitted it to me and Donghae!”

“Oh, what a surprise, Donghae and Eunhyuk, together again,” Kibum exclaimed monotonously (apparently that was only possible for Kibum to do) as he glared down at his boyfriend,

“Well, at least the fandom is recognizing me as your mother,” Eeteuk cried, “At least someone is!”

“Teukie… you originally hated being the mother of Super Junior,” Kangin murmured,

“Well, a man’s got to be a man!” Eeteuk defended, “And now we all have to call Heechul ‘hyung’!”

“Oh Buddha,” Siwon sighed as he picked up the television remote in an attempt to drown out the sudden ensuing arguments amongst the members,

“Weren’t you going back to God?” Henry asked as he shifted his place on the ground so as better to see the television screen,

“Some Buddhists would argue it’s a lifestyle rather than a religion,” Ryeowook commented knowingly,

“My turtles all practice Buddhism, but they attend church on Sundays also,” Yesung said proudly,

“Heechul, what did you do to my hair?” Hankyung asked as his fingers felt the braided locks, “I’m half-wondering if most of your complaints were false,” he muttered as he tried to undo the braids,

“Hmm… some were, some weren’t,” Heechul shrugged as he slipped over the armrest of the couch and walked over to Shindong, “What are you writing now?” He asked quietly,

“Why, this entire confrontation of course,” Shindong answered easily, “This entire conversation is pure gold to a writer.”

“It has been amusing this past month watching them,” Heechul agreed,

“Write more Kyumin stories,” Sungmin prodded, leaning over to look at Shindong’s screen, “Then, send the links to Zhou Mi,” he grinned, “Kyuhyun is going to suffer!”

“Bloodthirsty bunny,” Heechul glanced at Sungmin,

“That would make an interesting plot,” Shindong said in a considering tone,

The three members glanced before them as the members continued arguing with one another.

“All of this because of fanfiction,” Sungmin chuckled softly,

“All of this because of Heechul,” Shindong corrected,

The member in question shrugged simply as he smirked smugly, “You can’t make this stuff up.”

(Day 27 of the Fanfiction series.)

“I want to be a dancer.”

The other members of SJ-M glanced towards the second-youngest member who had spoken up so abruptly as they sat around the table eating breakfast on the fourth-last day of the fanfiction challenge.

“You… do… dance…” Hankyung said in a placating tone, “You danced last night… on stage.”

“Do you mean when the hyungs do their dance solos?” Henry asked as he idly played with a tube of raspberry lip gloss,

“What? No. They can all dance to their hearts’ content, I mean in stories,” Kyuhyun stated as he leaned back in his chair and folded her arms over his chest, “Apparently I don’t dance enough in real life to warrant being a dancer in stories, but what is the point of stories if not to be different from reality!?”

“The stories should still be believable,” Ryeowook said innocently, not knowing the barb his words had.

Kyuhyun stared at the other man with hurt in his eyes just as Donghae clapped his hand over Ryeowook’s mouth.

“C’mon, Kyuhyun, do you really want to be a dancer?” Siwon asked,

“I would like the option,” Kyuhyun muttered, shooting another glare at Ryeowook who was prying Dongahe’s hands from his mouth,

“What is it with everyone and having options?” Hankyung asked, “If you want something, then go get it. Eeteuk wants children, so, fine, we let him think whatever he wants in that head of his. We’ll let him believe Hongki is his son. Shindong wants to be paired with guys, then he should go out and meet some guys.”

“Shindong’s straight,” Henry interjected,

“Donghae wants to be with DBSK, fine, so he joins Cassiopeia,” Hankyung continued, “If you want something, then get it. Kyuhyun, if you want to be a dancer in stories, then be a dancer in real life!”

“That’s too much effort. Can’t I be a dancer just in stories?” Kyuhyun asked, a slight whine in his voice,

“Imagine if you had Donghae dress up like you just so you could convince writers that you’re a dancer?”

Zhou Mi laughed,

Kyuhyun turned his gaze to the China man beside him.

Henry glanced at Kyuhyun and then groaned, “Oh, Buddha, no…”

“Can he really?” Kyuhyun asked, sitting up straighter in his chair,

Zhou Mi blinked, “I was kidding?”

Kyuhyun, ignoring him, turned his eyes to Donghae who sat across from him, “Hyung… Hyung, can you?”

Donghae blinked, “But I…”

“Please?” Kyuhyun stared at him imploringly,

“Did he just say please?” Siwon whispered to the SJ-M leader,

“Forget that, did he just call Donghae ‘hyung’?” Hankyung replied,

Henry touched his hand to the other man’s forehead, “Doesn’t feel hot…”

Kyuhyun smacked his hand away, “Quit it before I throw your lip gloss off the balcony.”

“Evil!” Henry exclaimed, suddenly clasping his beloved item to his chest,

Kyuhyun turned his attention back to Donghae, “Hyung? Please?”

Donghae blinked, gaped, and looked at the other members for help. When they didn’t reply, he muttered, “Traitors,” before turning back to Kyuhyun, “I… I… ’m not tall enough?”

“Insoles!” Kyuhyun replied,

“Our… our hair is different,” Donghae suggested,

“Wigs!” Kyuhyun piped,

“I… don’t do power notes,” Donghae said weakly,

“Voice-over!” Kyuhyun grinned,

Donghae glanced at the other members who watched in stunned silence. Kyuhyun, apparently, was dead-set on having Donghae pretend to be him just so he could be a dancer in fanfictions. His eyes finally rested on Zhou Mi.

He grinned.

“Well…” he began slowly, “If I’m going to pretend to be you, it has to be pretty authentic so the fans don’t realize the switch.”

Kyuhyun nodded violently in silent agreement as the members gaped in surprise.

“That means,” Donghae said, “That I’m going to probably have to sleep with Zhou Mi.”

Kyuhyun blinked and then abruptly stood up, grabbing Zhou Mi’s arm as he did so, “To hell with being a dancer!”

He walked off to his room, dragging Zhou Mi along with him.

“It’s so wrong because we know what they’re probably doing in there,” Siwon shook his head as he looked at his half-eaten breakfast, suddenly without an appetite.

“We always know what they’re doing in there,” Hankyung rolled his eyes as he stood, taking his empty plate with him to the kitchen,

“Aren’t you worried?” Ryeowook piped,

“About what?” Donghae asked,

“What happens when Kyuhyun tells this to Heechul-hyung?” Ryeowook prompted,

“Then, we’re one more day closer to Heechul winning the challenge?” Donghae asked,

“What if Kibum’s around when Heechul’s told about this and Kyuhyun mentions what you said about Zhou Mi?” Henry reminded,

Donghae blinked, “He… wouldn’t…”

Henry raised a brow, “This is Kyuhyun we’re talking about.”

“Oh Buddha, you’re right!” Donghae groaned as he buried his face in his hands, “Do you think he’ll keep quiet if I promise to switch places with him?” He jumped from his seat and raced to Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi’s room, “Kyuhyun! What if – AH!” Donghae, who had walked freely into the room, was suddenly back in the hallway, the door closed securely at his back; “Well… that’s a different kind of dance.”

Ryeowook looked up, “Really? I want to see!”

[00SJ23] The Best Man for the Job

words: 1001
rate: PG13
(Day 23 of the Fanfiction series.)

It was the twenty-third day of the challenge, just eight more days until the damn thing was over and done with and the other fourteen members could treat it as a horrible memory. Since it was already so close to the end and it seemed futile to fight against the inevitable, they all suddenly became more passionate in their endeavours to find arguments against fanfiction.

It was on this day that a complaint was made against Eeteuk’s portrayal in fanfiction. Not by Eeteuk, himself, but by other members.

“Okay, now I know that fanfiction authors are half crazy!” Eunhyuk exclaimed as he and the other members were sitting around the dance studio preparing for a group performance.

“Are you allowed to make another complaint? You made one a few days ago… that’s being a bit selfish, isn’t it?” Shiwon inquired lightly,

“I recall you doing the same thing at the beginning of the month,” Kyuhyun commented lightly as he sat at Zhou Mi’s feet, gaining a hard stare from his hyung.

“But this isn’t just my complaint, it’s one that all of you will agree to,” Eunhyuk insisted as he sat on the window’s ledge, sweeping his gaze amongst the other members who were now looking at him expectantly. “I keep seeing the same thing over and over again, about how Eeteuk is such a good leader.”

“HEY!” Eeteuk exclaimed as all the members burst on in agreement. He lunged towards Eunhyuk, but Kangin slipped an arm around his waist, effectively imprisoning him, “Let go of me! I need to teach this monkey a lesson!”

“He has a point,” Shindong commented lightly, “They do write him to be a saint in stories. I should know, I’ve done it once or twice.”

“Traitor! I’ll find your external hard drive and destroy it!” Eeteuk yelled as he tried to push against Kangin’s hold.

“Is that why Hankyung is the leader for SJ-M?” Ryeowook asked innocently from his seat on the wooden floor beside Yesung.

“I’ll never see you as the cute eternal maknae!” Eeteuk stated angrily as Yesung immediately clasped a hand over Ryeowook’s mouth.

“And why he looked so ridiculous during Don’t Don promotions,” Heechul added,

“I never should have let you start this damn challenge!” Eeteuk growled as he wriggled and twisted, but Kangin’s arm was like a steel band.

“He hogged the spotlight so much during EHB,” Sungmin mildly commented,

“Sungmin! Not you, too!” Eeteuk cried out,

“He’s always trying to get in on our dance routines,” Donghae pondered aloud,

“You’re conspiring with that damn monkey, aren’t you!?” Eeteuk questioned, “You better sleep with one eye open tonight!”

“And he’s always acting like he’s better than the rest of us,” Eunhyuk added. Immediately a chorus rang up from the other members in agreement.

Eeteuk turned desperate eyes towards Zhou Mi and Henry, “You two don’t believe all of their accusations, do you? You both know better than to follow these traitors, right?”

Henry and Zhou Mi glanced at each other from across the room, silently communication with one another. Kyuhyun looked between the two before speaking up, “It’s not Eeteuk’s fault that he ships KyuMin and that he secretly hates Henry’s violin playing.”

“Kyuhyun, why you little –”

“Don’t worry Teukie-hyung, I still like you and I think you’re an amazing leader,” Kyuhyun beamed up at the leader.

“I… was I just complimented?” Eeteuk stopped struggling and looked over his shoulder at Kangin, “By… by Kyuhyun?”

“I would take compliments when you get them. Especially since it seems our children are staging a coup,” Kangin stated dryly,

“Oh, Kangin! You’re acknowledging our children!” Eeteuk turned in his arm and hugged him tightly, “Now Hyukjae won’t have a broken home and will stop trying to break up perfectly happy families!”

“I… was kidding,” Kangin murmured,

“Kangin is finally acknowledging our children, I must be doing something right! You’re all just acting out because he wasn’t being a proper parent, right? Well, that’s not how it’ll be from now on!” Eeteuk insisted as he faced the other members who were watching him with amused expressions, “Don’t worry, I will continue to be the perfect leader I’ve always been!”

Eeteuk began to walk towards the studio’s door, lightly humming a happy tune when Kyuhyun called out to him. Eeteuk turned and looked back at the younger man, “Yes my son?”

Kyuhyun blinked a moment before asking in mock-innocence, “Hyung, just to prove you’re a better leader than they think I just want to ask you a question. Where’s Kibummie?”

“Why, filming of course!” Eeteuk smiled at him, his tone and expression and posture complete confidence.

Kyuhyun smiled back at his hyung brightly before his dark eyes took on a mischievous glint and his smile became more of a smirk, “He’s in the bathroom.”

“He… he is? He… I thought…” Eeteuk stared at Kangin helplessly, “I didn’t even know where my Kibummie actually is? What kind of leader am I?”

“Mother,” Kyuhyun whispered from his seat at Zhou Mi’s feet, “What kind of mo~th~er are you?”

Eeteuk’s jaw dropped, eyes widened, “NO!” He cried, falling to his knees on the floor.

Kangin sighed heavily as he shot the snarky member a glare. He knelt beside Eeteuk and wrapped his arms around the leader, whispering comforting words as the leader began to bemoan being a horrible mother because he had no idea his lovely, talented Kibummie was with them that day.

When Kibum strode into the dance studio, Eeteuk crawled over to him on his knees, hugging his legs, “Kibum, I’m a good mother right? Right? I’m a good mother, say I’m a good mother, Kibum!”

Kibum stared at the leader. He looked up at the other members who were having a very difficult time holding in their laughter. Finally, he looked down at the leader, locking gazes, “Of course you are… but… you’re not my mother.”

For the rest of the dance practice, Eeteuk sat in the corner crying over the phone to Jaejoong.

[00SJ20] It's So Obvious

words: 1483
rate: PG13
(Day 20 of the Fanfiction series.)

Twenty days.

It had been twenty days since Heechul proposed the fanfiction challenge and still the cursed thing reigned over the boys of Super Junior and Super Junior-M. Each one was determined to prove Heechul wrong, to try and keep their mouths shut. However, each day one of the fifteen would make a complaint, further proving Heechul right. The twentieth day was drawing to a close and the other fourteen members were tensed with bated breaths as they willed the hours to inch faster. The closer it got to midnight, the closer it got to the possibility of the challenge being over with since no one had made a complaint that entire day. If the challenge could be finished that day, then that means ten more days without the challenge and it meant Heechul would be wrong; no one wanted him to be right because that path could only lead to more chaos.

All fifteen members were at dinner that evening, a slight respite from their ever-busy schedules and their monitoring managers (although they all had suspicions the managers were avoiding them due to how that challenge was affecting them all). As the meal wore on, conversations were being held up and down the long table that consisted of smaller tables pushed together to accommodate the over-sized boy band. However, it was words from one person that drew all conversations to a close and brought a new topic to the table. Naturally, that one person had to be Heechul.

“I may lose today,” he admitted nonchalantly as he waved his chopsticks in the air, noodles twirled and knotted about the tips.

Clinks and clatters were heard as dishes and cutleries were dropped at the sudden admission. Suddenly, fourteen pairs of eyes slowly turned to the second-eldest who popped his noodles in his mouth and chewed as if he hadn’t just baited them with gold.

Suddenly, the members began to chat and reminisce about the past complaints against fanfiction, bringing them together against a mutual enemy. It was on the opposite end of the long table that Henry grew silent, situated between Ryeowook and Donghae. Across from him, Kyuhyun looked up from his soup and raised a brow.

Henry, immediately see the silent question, shook his head almost violently as he looked back down at his plate, one hand slowly rising to cover his lips as if holding something in. Seeing the action in his peripherals, Ryeowook disengaged from his conversation with Yesung on his other side, to turn and look at the younger man,

“Henry? Is something wrong?”

Henry shook his head, “No… Yes… but I’ll tell you later.” He raised his other hand to glance at his watch, “In a few hours, actually.”

Ryeowook blinked and then looked at his own watch, “In a few hours… oh!” He lowered his voice considerably until he was sure only Henry could hear him, “Is this about the challenge?” Henry nodded. “You don’t want Heechul to win, right?”

Henry nodded violently, “I’ve been holding it in all day… I can wait a few more hours.”

Kyuhyun, who had been watching the byplay between the two but was too far to hear, watched, trying in vain to read their lips. When he couldn’t make any of the words out, however, he placed his bowl on the table, straightened in his seat and cleared his throat, “Henry. Is something wrong?” When the younger man looked at him with wide, alarmed eyes, Kyuhyun folded his arms over his chest and smirked, “Ah… I see… You have a complaint don’t you?”

Henry opened his mouth to talk when he realized how silent it had gotten around them. Slowly, he looked to his left and right and was horrified to find all the members watching him. He opened and closed his mouth a few times before managing a weak, “No.”

“The challenge demands complete honesty from the members,” Kyuhyun reminded solemnly, a slight taunt in his tone.

Henry swung his gaze to Eeteuk who was now covering his face with a hand as he shook his head. Beside Eeteuk was Heechul who nodded in support of Kyuhyun’s words. Henry looked at Ryeowook desperately, “I… I…” He swallowed hard as he dropped his gaze to his plate, “I have a complaint.”

Amidst the groans and muttered words from the other members (most of which sounded like "damn Kyuhyun" and "you are evil" and "spawn of Satan" - the latter making Eeteuk say he wasn't Satan), Heechul prompted, “And what has fanfiction done to you today, Henry?”

“Well… nothing specific, not really… it’s just… it’s just… I’m sick of all of these popular ships! People need to write different pairings! Think outside the box and all of that!” He exclaimed, “If your plots are going to be cliché, at least switch up the characters. I mean… it doesn’t help that the writers have some of it right…” He glanced at Ryeowook, “Sorry, hyung… but you and Yesung are just too obvious in public. And Eeteuk and Kangin are even worse –”

“Was I just scolded by my own son?” Eeteuk looked at Kangin who sat on his other side.

Kangin slanted him a look before shoving a forkful of kimchi into the leader’s mouth, silencing the older man as he dealt with the sudden onslaught of spiciness.

“I just… I don’t know,” Henry threw his hands in the air. He crossed his arms then, “I just think I could write better than half the writers out there… AND I would use unpredictable ships, just to keep readers on their toes.” He looked around the table, “Like… like… Shindong and Donghae.”

Shindong stroked his chin, “At least I’d finally be in a pairing.”

“We do dance together a lot,” Donghae nodded. Almost immediately, however, he looked at Kibum at his side, “Kidding… I was kidding.”

“What’s with you and dancers?” Kibum scoffed as he turned his face the other way.

“Or… or… Eeteuk and… and Kyuhyun,” Henry suggested,

Eeteuk blinked as he put down his glass of water, “Why do I keep getting pulled into this?”

Kyuhyun stared at Henry, finally shaken out of his smug stupor, he glanced at the leader and then back at Henry, “Me and him? But he’s so old!”

“Kangin!” Eeteuk whined as Zhou Mi asked tentatively, “Am I too old!?”

Kyuhyun glanced at Eeteuk who was now glaring at him and then at Zhou Mi who stared imploringly at him. Sighing, he moved to stand, “I’m going to the washroom.”

“Oh, no, no, no,” Shiwon pulled him back down to his seat, “You started this, you’re going to have to suffer like the rest of us.”

Henry blinked, “See, or Kyuhyun and Shiwon.”

Shiwon, startled, raised both thick eyebrows in surprised, his grip slack on Kyuhyun’s arm. Meanwhile, the latter was blinking rapidly, “Me and Shiwon? But he’s so ol…” He paused when he slowly turned to look at Zhou Mi. The Chinaman had an eyebrow raised in a silent question and challenge. Kyuhyun cleared his throat as he looked away, “Religious. I was going to say religious.”

“And… I don’t know… maybe writers can pair me up with people who aren’t in SJ-M,” Henry shrugged, “I’m almost always paired with Donghae or Ryeowook, but, I mean… we all get along good, why can’t I be paired up with someone like… like…” He looked around the table, “Sungmin.”

Sungmin grinned, pointing to himself with his spoon, “Me? You want to be paired in a story with me?”

“S…Sure?” Henry shrugged again,

“Hey!” Both Donghae and Ryeowook turned to the younger man between them,

“What’s wrong with being paired with me!?” Donghae demanded,

“Or me?” Ryeowook questioned,

Eunhyuk, who was sitting beside Sungmin, leaned forward across the table, “Hey Henry, what about pairing with me? I’m a pretty cool guy!”

“What are you getting so excited for? You’re straight,” Hankyung reminded,

Eunhyuk looked at him, “So? I’m tired of the predictable ships, too! I’m always paired with Dong…” He paused and slowly glanced at Kibum who was now glaring daggers at him. “Bang Shin Ki’s Junsu,” He finished lamely, “Yes… that’s what I was going to say.”

Shindong, who had pulled out a notepad and was writing, paused and looked up at Henry, “Great job, Henry.”

He smiled sheepishly, “I didn’t mean to cause such an uproar.”

“It’s fine,” Shindong insisted, waving his pencil in the air, “Any other unpredictable ships? If I get inspiration, I’ll write some stories for you. Go on, what ship do you want?”

Henry laughed as he spiked his fingers through his hair, “Actually, my favourite ship is YeWook.”

Unfortunately for the maknae, his statement was heard by everyone else. As the members got into another heated discussion and debate about ships, Heechul sat back in his chair and laced his fingers behind his head,

“I love the sound of me being right.”

[00SJ19] The Real Deal

words: 1510
rate: PG13
(Day 19 of the Fanfiction series.)

“I can honestly say I have no complaints whatsoever about Super Junior fanfiction.”

The Super Junior-M members who were practicing at the dance studio looked over at the member who stated such an unbelievable statement. It was the 19th day of their turmoil caused by the second-oldest member of Super Junior. It was Shiwon to question the statement.

Leaning his hips back against a window sill, one foot propped on the wall, he crossed his arms and raised a thick brow, “Zhou Mi… are you feeling okay?”

“Yes, why?” He smiled brightly at the other man as if he could outshine the sun,

Shiwon glanced at the other members who shrugged. He disregarded Kyuhyun who was shaking his head desperately. He looked back at Zhou Mi who was still grinning like a fool, “You said you have no complaints about fanfiction but… wasn’t it just last week that you were upset because of –”

Kyuhyun practically flew across the distance between them, landing against Shiwon and clasping both hands over the older man’s mouth, “Don’t listen to him Mimi, let’s go practice the dance again, huh?” He looked over his shoulder to his beloved, but it was too late.

The perpetual smile gone and eyes narrowed darkly, Zhou Mi was a dark presence sitting on the ground with the other members. His entire body – lanky, flailing limbs and all – was completely tense, hands fisted so tightly his knuckles were white. Zhou Mi stood up smoothly and quickly.

He threw Kyuhyun a glare, “That’s one thing I’d prefer not to remember.”

“Cool exit, cool exit,” Henry whispered from beside Zhou Mi, looking up at him, “Do a cool exit now.”

Zhou Mi glanced from Henry to Donghae who sat on the other side of him. Both nodded up at him encouragingly. He glared at Kyuhyun again before moving to walk away. He made it one and a half steps before tumbling to the ground in a pile of flailing limbs. Kyuhyun immediately ran to his side while Henry and Donghae burst out laughing as the other members watched in silent amusement.

Slapping Kyuhyun’s hands away, Zhou Mi rolled onto his back to see how he fell. His eyes travelled to his shoes where his laces were tied to one another, restricting his movement. His eyes jumped to the laughing members, “You!”

Henry and Donghae stopped laughing, glancing at one another before looking back at Zhou Mi who was trying to scramble towards them, not bothering to stop and untie his shoelaces. Zhou Mi got close to them before both stated in unison, “Kyumin.”

Kyuhyun’s jaw dropped, hands frozen in mid air on their way to comfort Zhou Mi. The other man’s body trembled as he kicked off his shoes and stood up again. His anger, however, was directed towards Kyuhyun.

“It’s bad enough that there is such a ship in the fanfiction world but even when we are paired up I’m the one always fawning over you! That’s not how it really is!” Eyes narrowed, he stated quietly, his voice like a harsh whisper, “Get comfortable sleeping in your own bed when we’re in China.” With that, he stormed out of the dance studio, the door slamming behind him as he murmured, “I hate fanfiction.”

“Oh my Buddha,” Shiwon leaned his head back against the wall, pinching the bridge of his nose in an exasperated gesture.

Hankyung sighed heavily as he stood up, “I suppose seeing it was Heechul’s doing that caused this… it’s my job to go after Zhou Mi.” Hands in his pockets, head shaking, he slowly followed the other Chinaman.

Kyuhyun, who had been watching Zhou Mi leave, turned his gaze to the two SJM members who had tied Zhou Mi’s shoes together. From the ground, he lunged towards Henry, fingers curling into the younger man’s collar, “I’LL KILL YOU! I’LL MAKE IT SO NO ONE WILL FIND YOUR BODY! I’LL MAKE IT SO YOUR MOTHER WON’T BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE YOU!” He exclaimed, shaking him violently,

“WHY – AREN’T – YOU – ATTACKING – HAE – TOO!?” Henry questioned, his words stilted since Kyuhyun was shaking him,

Kyuhyun paused, “Because he’s older than me,” he replied matter-of-factly. Then, he continued to shake him.

“How will his mother even be able to see him if no one can find his body?” Donghae questioned,

Kyuhyun froze, looking over at Donghae. He blinked and then shook Henry again, “WHY DON’T YOU STOP HIM FROM TEASING ME!?”

“BECAUSE – YOU’RE – SHAKING – ME!” Henry argued.

Finally Kyuhyun stopped and hugged the younger man to him, “I just don’t know what I’ll do if Zhou Mi casts me from his bed!”

“Apparently Buddha isn’t listening. I should go back to God,” Shiwon murmured from the window,

“Go with God, hyung,” Ryeowook nodded encouragingly from his stance on the other side of Henry. He looked back at Kyuhyun, “If he does that, just force your way back into his bed. That’s what I do,” he advised as he slowly walked over to another window, peacefully whistling as he did so.

The other members watched him warily.

“AND ANOTHER THING –” The members looked over to the door which was now open and where Zhou Mi stood, staring, “SO NOW YOU GO AFTER YOUNGER GUYS!? First you’re a cheater and now you’re a cradle robber!?”

“They’re only a year apart,” Donghae commented,

“Not helping,” Hankyung called out, standing in the hallway behind Zhou Mi. He sighed as he pushed Zhou Mi into the room so he could re-enter as well, “I’m going to call Heechul. His stupid challenge is starting to annoy me.”

Kyuhyun blinked, looked at Henry who he was still crushing in his embrace before practically throwing him at Donghae as he jumped to his feet, “No! Mimi, it’s not like that!”

Zhou Mi began walking to the other end of the room when Kyuhyun ran after him, jumping onto his back and knocking them both down to the ground, “What was that for? I’m not Shiwon! I can’t just have people on my back like that!”

“Should I be offended?” Shiwon looked at the others.

“Not at all,” Donghae insisted as he went over to Shiwon and proceeded to climb up his back, hanging off his shoulders easily.

“I DON’T WANT TO SLEEP ALONE!” Kyuhyun cried as he tried desperately to cling to Zhou Mi as the Chinaman tried to wriggle away, managing to free one long limb from the younger man’s embrace.

Hankyung sighed heavily; phone held to his ear, “Actually, Heechul, is Eeteuk there? I need some parenting advice. No, I am not trying to be a father-figure to anyone. Yes, I know I would be the mother because you’re the father… are you aware that if Eeteuk and Kangin are our parents, we’re brothers?” He paused, “Can you put Eeteuk on the phone now, please?”

“I’ll tell the fanfiction authors that our ship is the real one,” Kyuhyun insisted as he gripped Zhou Mi tightly,

Zhou Mi looked over his shoulder at him, suddenly stopping in trying to crawl away from the younger man, “Make a site.”

Kyuhyun blinked, “What?”

“Make a site. About us. About the one true pairing,” Zhou Mi stated seriously,

“No, I will not add on by saying O – T – P,” Hankyung hissed into the phone, “Put Eeteuk on the phone already.”

“I’ll make the site!” Kyuhyun promised,

Hankyung spun to face them, “Don’t make promises like that!” His attention swiftly changed back to the phone, “Hello? Eeteuk! Help! They’re fighting and causing problems!”

Slowly, the other SJM members turned their attention to Hankyung who was obviously fervently conversing on the phone. With Kyuhyun’s loosened hold on him, Zhou Mi managed to crawl out from underneath him. He stood, helping Kyuhyun up as his attention focused on the SJM leader.

“Er… no, no… Kangin doesn’t have to come down here and have a talk with them,” Hankyung insisted,

“So does this mean I can sleep with you when we go back to China?” Kyuhyun inquired,

“Oh Buddha,” Shiwon shook his head,

“No, Shiwon, you’re going back to Jesus, remember?” Donghae prompted from his place hanging off of Shiwon’s shoulders,

“No, you won’t make the site,” Zhou Mi sniffed as he walked away back to the other members,

“But Hankyung won’t let me!” Kyuhyun whined as he walked after him.

Kyuhyun, however, didn’t have to walk very far. Zhou Mi, feet clad only in socks, suddenly slipped on the smooth, wooden floors of the dance studio. He fell to the ground, all four limbs waving frantically in the air as he did so. Kyuhyun dropped to his knees by his side, fretting over him.

“Yes, that was Zhou Mi falling to the ground,” Hankyung stated, shaking his head at the scene.

“Henry, want to see something funny?” Donghae called from Shiwon’s shoulders. At the maknae’s nod, he called, “Hey Zhou Mi.”

Zhou Mi, who had gotten to his knees, rubbing his sore elbows, “Yes?”

“Kyumin!” Donghae grinned,

“Eunhae,” Zhou Mi countered.

Hankyung sighed heavily, his head drooping with exhaustion, “Eeteuk says ‘Kangteuk’.”

[00SJ11] feminine!Heechul pt 3

words: 1398
rate: PG13
(Day 11 of the Fanfiction series.)

On an average day, if one were to ask any of the Super Junior members if they liked each other, they would say ‘yes’. On an average day, if one were to ask any of the Super Junior members if they liked Heechul, only one would say ‘yes’; the rest would be slightly more hesitant. It wasn’t that they hated Heechul, it was that he was a peculiar character and one enjoyed his company. More often than not, they really liked Heechul, but they’d never admit it to his face. This day, however, SJ-M members would unanimously agree to NOT like Heechul.

Heechul had been with them in China for four days and, apparently, that was their limit; especially, since Heechul had been reading more fanfictions non-stop. (Hankyung began to complain to the others of being deprived. They did not want to know what he was being deprived of.)

It was the morning and the SJ-M members were slowly waking up, glad to have at least one day of reprieve in their promotional activities in China. Donghae was still away in Korean and Henry was sitting at the table, his cheek lying down on the table as one hand idly played with the spoon in his cereal bowl. Ryeowook was taking a shower, his voice flowing out towards them in a muffled, sweet harmony. Zhou Mi came out of his and Kyuhyun’s room, the younger man had his arms draped around Zhou Mi’s shoulders. Zhou Mi dragging the still-sleeping Kyuhyun behind him, deposited Kyuhyun onto the couch before joining Henry at the table. Hankyung was missing that morning and Shiwon, the only member who seemed to be completely awake, was sitting on the other couch, studying his mandarin.

When the dorm’s front door opened, Henry raised his head slightly off the table as Hankyung appeared, pulling off his shoes. The leader was dressed in jogging pants and a sweatshirt, causing Henry to raise an eyebrow in silent question.

“Out for a run,” he explained as he traipsed to the kitchen and grabbed a chilled bottle of water, “I seem to have a lot of pent-up energy the past four days.”

Henry lowered his head to the table, but this time, it was his forehead that banged against the smooth, wooden surface.

Just then, Heechul burst out of Hankyung’s room dressed in pink, flannel pyjama pants and top, his shoulder-length hair pulled back into a high pony-tail.

“Are fanfiction authors trying to make me cry!?” Heechul demanded as he sat at the table across from Henry and adjacent to Zhou Mi.

Hankyung leaned a shoulder against the Kitchen’s archway, “What did they do now?”

“THEY ARE WORSE THAN NETIZENS!” Heechul declared, lowering his head to the table as his arms wrapped around his head.

Zhou Mi, Henry and even Shiwon looked at Hankyung, silently asking – pleading – for him to do something.

Hankyung took a deep swig of his water, as if it contained something stronger, and then pushed away from the wall and sat on the other end of the table, adjacent to both Heechul and Henry; Zhou Mi across from him. Placing his bottle of water on the table, carefully capping it, the three SJ-M members who were conscious watched him irritably as the leader put too much time and concentration to each fine movement. When Hankyung began to pull off his sweater over his head, Henry made fierce contact with Hankyung’s shin by using a sock-clad foot.

Hankyung shot him a look as he pulled off his sweater and tossed it to the couch (landing on Kyuhyun’s feet) before placing a hand on one of Heechul’s arms, “What did they do now?”

“MY HAIR!” He exclaimed,

Hankyung looked at the other members (save Kyuhyun who was still asleep and Ryeowook who was still singing in the shower) and saw all of them physically sigh. Repressing his own urge to sigh, he asked tentatively, “And what did they say about your hair?”

“THEY COMPARED IT TO THAT OF A GIRL’S!” Heechul stated as he suddenly sat up, his hands fisted on the table.

Hankyung blinked before saying, “But you do sometimes keep your hair long… and you’ve said yourself – on more than one occasion – how your hair is better than most of the female population.”

“Exactly!” Heechul grounded out, “My hair is better than that of a girl’s! There’s no comparison! It is impossible to even attempt a comparison!”

Since he first met Heechul, he became accustomed to the slow throbbing of a part of the back of his head. When they first got together, it steadily increased in intensity. At that moment, the throbbing made an appearance and he raised his free hand to the base of his skull and rubbed it wearily.

“So you’re complaining that they didn’t describe your hair good enough?” Henry asked, rolling his head so that his chin rested on the tabletop instead of his cheek.

Heechul nodded.

“But weren’t you complaining before of how fanfiction authors are constantly likening you to a girl?” Shiwon inquired, looking up from his book.

“Yes, but if they’re going to do it, they might as well do it right!” Heechul stated vehemently. He crossed his slender arms over his chest, “At least last time, when I was on the bottom at least they didn’t underestimate my power or virility-” He took this moment to look at Hankyung and wink at him, causing Henry to slap a hand over his eyes; “And at least they were smart enough to call me beautiful – although divine would’ve been acceptable too.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Henry held up his hands in a Shiwon-like gesture, “First you were complaining because of how they were constantly describing you of being… feminine? And now you’re complaining because now the authors aren’t doing it right?”

Heechul actually took a moment to think that over before, finally, nodding decisively.

“ARGH!” Henry stood up, “I’m going back to bed before I kill him,” he stated as he walked off; his statement followed by a string of English words, presumably swears.

“Why did Donghae have to go back to Korea? He’d understand my pain,” Heechul sighed, bringing the back of his hand to his forehead,

“NO HE WOULDN’T HAVE!” Henry yelled before a door slammed shut.

“What’s all the yelling ab-OWW!”

Four pairs of eyes turned their attention to the couch adjacent to Shiwon’s. The sleeping member was now gone and, instead, was lying facedown on the ground. Kyuhyun pushed himself off the ground, climbing back onto the couch as he kicked away Hankyung’s sweater,

“What was that doing around my feet?” Kyuhyun asked as he checked his limbs for any damage, “And why is there all this yelling?”

“Kyuhyun, fanfiction authors compare me to females, but if they’re going to do it, they should do it right, right?” Heechul asked sweetly as he sailed from the table to Kyuhyun’s side on the couch. “I’m prettier than females, right?”

“Obviously,” Kyuhyun stated as he stood up, “Hankyung could have any girl he wants in Korea or China and he’s with you. And although the rest of us question his sanity for it, it means something right?”

“That’s so true!” Heechul’s eyes suddenly lit up, “They’re all jealous! That’s what this is all about!” He stood up and began walking back to Hankyung’s room as if in a chance; “They’re all jealous of me! Of course! I should have known.”

Shiwon, Kyuhyun, Zhou Mi and Hankyung all sat silently until the soft thud of a bedroom door closing was heard. Finally, Hankyung looked at Kyuhyun, slanting him a look,

“Did you really just do that? Did you really just feed his ego?” Hankyung demanded,

“It was either that or listen to him complain for the rest of his stay here… no, no – for the rest of our lives!” Kyuhyun stated, sitting back in the couch, crossing his arms defiantly, “I did what was for the good of everyone.”

“For the good of everyone would be to get him away from the damn fanfictions,” Hankyung sighed as he grabbed his water and drank deeply.

“It’s Heechul that’s become obsessed,” Kyuhyun stated, “Fanfiction has done nothing to me.”

“Just wait,” Shiwon warned before turning his attention back to his mandarin lessons,

Kyuhyun shook his head as Zhou Mi came and sat next to him on the couch, “Nothing fanfiction authors write about could ever make me thatcrazy.”

[00SJ9] Hankyung's Korean Lessons

words: 1175
rate: PG13
(Day 9 of the Fanfiction series.)

Since Heechul made the effort – and caused enough trouble – to join Super Junior-M in China, he decided to stay for a few days. After a quick call to the manager-hyungs (who were so used to Heechul’s antics that all they said was they’re surprised he didn’t run off farther than China) and to Eeteuk (who proceeded to yell at Heechul, but he had placed the phone on the table and walked away for ten minutes), Heechul’s schedule in Korea was cleared so he could remain in China.

So, the evening after discovering Heechul in their dorm, the members all retired to the dorm for the evening. Heechul, who had decided to stay in that day, greeted them warmly.

“Idiot,” Kyuhyun muttered in Mandarin as he walked over to one of the couches and plopped down, pulling his laptop onto his thighs,

“What was that?” Heechul eyed him suspiciously from the other end of the couch having watched mainland dramas the entire day, despite not understanding a word.

“I said I missed you,” Kyuhyun lied easily as his fingers began to move in quick succession over the computer keys.

“Ah,” Heechul looked up to Hankyung who came and sat down on the arm rest beside him, “Hankyung, idiot!”

Hankyung blinked at Heechul before moving his gaze to Kyuhyun who was having difficulty holding in his laughter, “Kyuhyun! Stop teaching Heechul wrong Mandarin!”

Heechul twisted in to look at Kyuhyun, “You did what!?”

“Well, Heechul-hyung teaches you wrong Korean all the time,” Kyuhyun defended.

Heechul scowled at him before looking at Hankyung, “I do not.”

Hankyung narrowed his gaze before moving and sitting on the couch between the two members, “This is why in fanfictions I’m always stumbling or using Korean wrong, isn’t it? And here I thought I was pretty damn fluent!”

“Sorry to say this, hyung, but Zhou Mi’s more proficient than you are,” Kyuhyun stated, “But that could be because you started relying on Heechul to teach you Korean.”

“Don’t listen to him, it’s Kyuhyun after all. You know how cheeky and disrespectful he is to his hyungs!” Heechul insisted,

“Say something that Heechul-hyung taught you,” Kyuhyun prompted, “Something you don’t use or hear in regular conversation in Korea.”

Hankyung looked uneasily at Heechul before looking at Kyuhyun, “Can I say it in Mandarin just in case he taught me something totally ridiculous?”

“Um… sure?” Kyuhyun held up a hand to stall him, “Mimi!”

“Mimi?” Heechul repeated, “You call Zhou Mi that?”

“Yes, he gets offended and stops smiling if I don’t,” Kyuhyun rolled his eyes as the tall Chinese man appeared at his side,

“Yes?”

“Hankyung-ge is going to say something in Mandarin; can you translate it to Korean?” Kyuhyun asked as Zhou Mi sat on the armrest next to him, allowing the older man to take over one of his hands.

Zhou Mi nodded and looked at Hankyung expectantly.

“Ah… okay,” He began in Mandarin immediately, “When we’re um… alone… I always tell him ‘You’re always in my heart’.”

“That’s so cheesy,” Zhou Mi replied in their native tongue,

“It’s one of the things he first taught me when we hooked up!” Hankyung argued,

Zhou Mi sighed and replied in Korean, “You’re always in my heart.”

Hankyung blinked before turning to look at Heechul, “YOU LIED!?”

“I have no idea what you’re referring to,” Heechul stated as he stood up, preparing to walk away,

“He told me to say it like this: I like it when you fu-” However, the rest of what Hankyung said was silenced as Heechul lunged at him, clasping both hands over his mouth. He narrowed his gaze at the man now sitting haphazardly in his lap and muttered against his hands, “You did lie!”

Hankyung collected Heechul’s hands from his face and held them both in one hand. He looked over at Zhou Mi and spoke, once more in Mandarin, “In Korean, is there a more informal way of saying ‘I love you’? Like, a way that’s only said between… erm… lovers?”

Zhou Mi blinked, “Besides ‘saranghae’?” Hankyung nodded. Zhou Mi looked at Kyuhyun and whispered Hankyung’s question into his ear but in Korean.

“That’s pretty much as informal as you’re going to get with that,” Kyuhyun said. He looked at Hankyung, “What did Heechul teach you?”

Heechul, who didn’t hear what Hankyung had asked, was now fervently trying to pry his hands from Hankyung’s grasp, but the latter was holding him firmly. When he tried to at least squirm off of his lap, Hankyung used his free arm to wrap around his hips, stilling Heechul’s lower body; he was trapped.

“He said ‘harder’ was how you say it,” Hankyung said, “And for some reason I love this guy, so I always say it when we’re together… but since it’s supposedly so informal, I just say it when we’re alone.”

Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi blinked before Kyuhyun unsuccessfully swallowed his laughter, leaning his head against Zhou Mi’s thigh as he continued to laugh. Managing a straight expression, Zhou Mi inquired, “And let me guess… you say this several times when you two are… together?” When Hankyung nodded, the other two fell into a fit of laughter.

Kyuhyun straightened, his free hand against his stomach as he tried to catch his breath, “Can you imagine, Mimi? If whenever I wanted to say ‘I love you’, instead I’d keep saying ‘harder’, ‘harder’, ‘harder’!?”

Zhou Mi sobered immediately, his eyes gaining a peculiar light as he looked at Kyuhyun. Realizing immediately what effect his words had on the older man, Kyuhyun stopped laughing. Closing his laptop and laying it on the coffee table before them, he stood up and looked at Hankyung and Heechul,

“We were wrong, that is a way of saying ‘I love you’,” Kyuhyun stated before Zhou Mi practically hauled him away to their bedroom.

Hankyung turned suspicious eyes to Heechul who had gone very still on his lap. When their gazes locked, the younger man questioned, “What else did you teach me wrong?”

“Those were the only things,” Heechul insisted,

“Are you sure?” Hankyung demanded, “Because from the stories I’ve read, there’s this trend of me still having issues with Korean.”

“Just those two things,” Heechul repeated solemnly.

Hankyung, not sure whether or not to trust him, looked up to see Shiwon heading towards the kitchen, “Shiwon!”

Shiwon paused and turned to them, not even batting an eyelash to their blatant positions on the couch, “Yes, hyung?”

Heechul started trying to free his hands again, but Hankyung’s fingers merely tightened around his wrists, “You’re a sex god in bed!”

Shiwon blinked. He opened and closed his mouth several times before finally saying, “That is so wrong on so many levels… and I’m pretty sure it’s blasphemous on so many other levels.” He turned on his heel and immediately disappeared into the kitchen.

Hankyung glared at Heechul, “What did I really say?”

Heechul stared at him a moment, his face assuming the very picture of innocence, before replying in perfectly intonated Mandarin, “Sorry, I don’t speak Korean.”

[00SJ8] Shiwon is God's homeboy

words: 1108
rate: PG13
(Day 8 of the Fanfiction series.)

It was late one evening when the members of Super Junior-M were returning back from filming a show in China. Shiwon was the first through the door, stretching his arms to the ceiling as he walked inside the dorm when he let out an exclamation,

“OH MY BUDDHA!”

As the other SJ-M members piled into the dorm, they looked at he peculiarly,

“What did you say?” Zhou Mi asked,

“Isn’t it ‘oh my God’?” Ryeowook looked at Henry who nodded in silent confirmation,

“I’m just trying something new out,” Shiwon explained, turning to the members, “I was reading a story earlier and it was saying how I’m crazy religious and how I condemn everyone and try to convert everyone – and that’s just not true.”

“It’s not bad to be religious, hyung,” Kyuhyun insisted as he slipped off his shoes,

“I know, but some stories are making me out to be some… some ‘bible-pusher’?” He looked at Henry to ensure he had used the proper English term. The Canadian nodded once more as he put his jacket away in a closet, “And I’m not like that at all!”

“Then just make it a bit more modern when you talk about your religion. Say you’re God’s homeboy, hyung or that you’re down with G-O-D, or something,” Henry suggested. “That ‘although you walked through the valley of death’ you came out of it and you ‘saw the sign’. Tell them that when you found the ‘notorious G-O-D’ that you went ‘bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S.’ That the Big Guy said ‘I’ve been watching you like a hawk in the sky, at night and you are my prey. I know that if we keep bumping heads, I know that just one of these days, we gonna hook it up’ and so you started going to church.

“So you went to church and were scared at first, but you heard God say: ‘Say my name, say my name’ and so you did! You shouted it loud and proud! That you prayed: ‘From that morning, that this life is over, I know I’ll see Your shining face’!

“But see, through your life you’ve had trouble keeping your faith strong and unwavering. There were times when you would cry out ‘I wish that you would call me right now. So, that I could get through to you somehow’. But you knew you had a strong faith and prayed: ‘Everything that used to matter don't matter no more, like my money, all my cars - You can have it all and flowers, cards and candy. I do it just because. I said I'm fortunate to have you, God, I want you to know I really adore you’! ” Henry exclaimed, punching a fist enthusiastically into the air, “And that is why you shouldn’t mind the fanfictions that comment on your passion for your religion, Shiwon-hyung!”

However, it was late. He was tired and had reverted to speaking in English. So, the other members present were all staring at him confusedly. He sighed, stabbed his hand through his thick hair and said simply in Korean, “Pray to God for strength.”

“What you said and what you translated ridiculously don’t add up in length, Henry.”

“OH MY BUDDHA!” Henry, who had begun to groggily head off to his bedroom, suddenly spun towards the living room and gaped, “HEECHUL!?”

Hankyung, who had been the last to enter the dorm, looked up suddenly, “What? Why are you here!?” He pushed through the other members to stand before Heechul who sat on one of the leather couches.

“I wanted to remind you that I am not ugly,” Heechul stated simply, crossing one knee over the other as he loosely folded his arms about his torso, blankly starring up at the towering Chinese man.

“This was two days ago,” Shiwon muttered resentfully as he kicked his shoes off, “We were talking about me.”

“What was that?” Ryeowook asked,

“Nothing,” Shiwon replied, leaning a shoulder against the wall and crossing his arms over his chest,

“Hyung, the bible says that the meek shall inherit the earth,” Kyuhyun said solemnly, the smirk on his face belying any true support or admonishment he may have been trying to give.

“I don’t want to inherit the earth,” Shiwon murmured, shooting a glare at the younger man, “Just my own topic for the damn challenge.”

“Didn’t you have a complaint a few days ago? Before we even left Korea?” Zhou Mi inquired,

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Shiwon lied,

“Of course you do,” Donghae said and then jumped onto Shiwon’s back, hanging off of him easily, “It was about how you’re not cuddly at all.”

“Hankyung-hyung!” Shiwon whined,

Hankyung looked over, “Donghae, stop climbing Shiwon and stop telling him he’s not cuddly. Shiwon, you are like a giant tree – a cuddly tree – so fight your own battles,” he looked at Heechul, “and Heechul, why the hell did you have to travel all the way to China? You could’ve emailed me a photo!”

“The only photos I’d want to send you… well, it’d be very bad if anyone accidentally got those instead of you,” Heechul said simply.

When the leader’s face began to go very red, the others turned their attention to Shiwon.

“Wait, so this is your second complaint?” Zhou Mi asked,

“Greed is one of the seven deadly sins, hyung,” Kyuhyun shook his head in disappointment, “You of all people should know this.”

“Oh. My. Buddha.” Shiwon turned to him, “You’re supporting the fanfictions? You probably write them yourself, don’t you Kyuhyun? You do – don’t you!? You don’t play video games! YOU SIT AT YOUR LAPTOP WRITING SUPER JUNIOR FANFICTIONS ALL DAY! YOU SECRETLY HATE VIDEO GAMES!”

Kyuhyun gasped, a hand flying to his own mouth, “You bite your tongue, Choi Shiwon! Those are blasphemous words!” He turned towards Zhou Mi who had grabbed his hand and began tugging him towards their room, “You will rue this day, Shiwon! RUE!” After they heard a door slamming, an identifying creak signalled its reopening, “THAT’S RIGHT! I SAID ‘RUE’!” The second door slam was, surely, the last of it.

Shiwon sighed, “I have a headache now.”

“You have a headache? I have a Heechul! That’s like ten of them,” Hankyung stated.

“Oh, I’ll give you ten of something later,” Heechul said saucily, giving him an obvious wink.

Shiwon looked to the remaining members, each with their own paled and terrified expressions. He sighed heavily, “Oh my Buddha.”

Donghae, who had disobeyed Hankyung and was still on Shiwon’s back, gently patted the taller man on the head, “See Shiwon, the fanfiction writers are all wrong! You’ve already forgotten you’re Christian.”

[00SJ6] feminine!Heechul pt 2

words: 1466
rate: PG13
(Day 6 of the Fanfiction series.)

“Donghae! I can hear him through the wall!”

He could hear movement on the bed across the room from his own. Finally, a head popped out from beneath the thick blankets, a little pony tail sticking in the air,

“Shiwon! It’s three in the morning!” Donghae admonished angrily before allowing his face to fall into his pillow.

“But I can still hear Hankyung through the wall!” Shiwon whined resentfully, “For the past hour, all I can hear is him talking to Heechul!”

“So long as they’re not having phone sex,” Donghae’s muffled reply came from the pillow. “Just knock on the wall again.”

Shiwon sighed heavily as he sat up in his bed and pounded a fist against the wall. Shiwon grew silent and was glad to hear nothing come from the other room. Suddenly, their room was flooded with light as Hankyung, clad in just pyjama pants, stood in their doorway,

“Do you mind?” Hankyung replied,

“Ge! It’s three in the morning! I can hear you through the wall!” Shiwon complained,

“Then you try calming down Heechul when he’s ranting!” Hankyung hissed, one hand clasped over the bottom half of his phone,

“What is he complaining about now? Did it rain and now the humidity is making his hair frizzy?” Donghae asked, turning his head so he wasn’t speaking into the pillow,

“No, he’s – just a second,” Hankyung sighed as he removed his hand from over the mouthpiece, “Yes, yes, this is worse than how you’re always on the bottom. I know… I know… Damn it, Heechul – I know all of this already!” He rolled his eyes as he slid his hand over the mouthpiece once more, “He’s been reading fanfiction late at night again and apparently he’s discovered that every time he’s described they always call him beautiful.”

“But… Heechul calls himself beautiful all the time,” Shiwon blinked,

“Apparently only he’s allowed to call himself that,” Hankyung explained before moving his hand again and speaking into the phone, “Yes, I am listening; I’ve been listening for the past hour. Yes, I understand how this emasculates you; perhaps this is how Eeteuk-hyung felt when he read all those stories about him being our mother?” Hankyung then proceeded to hold the phone a few inches from his ear before calling into it, “You’re right, this isn’t the same thing!”

“Hyung, it’s three in the morning!” Donghae whined before rolling onto his other side, pulling his blanket over his head.

“I told him that! See Heechul! Not only are you disturbing the others in your dorm, but you’re disturbing the members here too! There are thousands of miles between us and somehow – only you, by the way – you still manage to cause trouble!” Hankyung began to scold.

Shiwon watched, sleepily, as Hankyung drew the phone away from his ear again. Shiwon was startled that he could actually hear Heechul yelling, despite being a few metres away from the phone; it wasn’t clear, but he knew it was yelling. He watched, bemused, when finally Hankyung ventured putting the phone back to his ear and stating calmly,

“No, that does not mean I don’t love you,” Hankyung rolled his eyes, pointing to the phone before gesturing with his hand a drinking motion, “It means that the other members might not love you anymore. Now, now, that does not mean that they’re all hairy-backed Neanderthals who don’t realize something good when it’s in front of them… Of course I also think that about them,” Hankyung followed this with vehemently shaking his head in a silent, negative response to Shiwon, “No, I did not shake my head denying this to – how did you know I’m facing Shiwon? Hold on a second,”

Hankyung covered the mouth piece and lowered the phone far from his face. He looked around the dim room, light from the hallway still flooding in. “Heechul’s never been here right?”

Shiwon shook his head,

“That’s what I thought… he couldn’t possibly have set up cameras in here, too,” Hankyung muttered,

Shiwon blinked, “What do you mean by ‘too’? Where does he have cameras set up?”

“Everywhere,” Hankyung stated dryly.

When Hankyung’s eyes darted to his lap, Shiwon had a distinct feeling he knew where Heechul had set up cameras and how much Hankyung was not exaggerating when he said ‘everywhere’. For great measure, he pulled his blankets up to beneath his arms and threw one of his pillows over his lap.

Hankyung sighed, “Well what if I called you beautiful? Will that make the fanfictions seem less offensive then?” He paused and then replied, “No, I am not trying to take control of the relationship by calling you beautiful. I know a man’s got to be a man - damn it… Heechul! I’m a man too! No… No… No, I did not secretly write that fanfiction about you being on the bottom! You know I like it when you’re on top sometimes!”

Shiwon’s face paled as Donghae sat up in bed suddenly crying, “HYUNG!”

“You’re overreacting,” Hankyung said, ignoring the responses of both of his dongsaengs, “No, I did NOT just call you a woman. No – not all women overreact. I… I… Yes, yes, I know Eeteuk-hyung overreacts and that he’s Kangin’s wife, but that doesn’t mean he’s a woman!” He paused, glancing at Shiwon and Donghae, finally taking in their startled looks. He was about to apologize when he exclaimed, “Proof? Fine! Jaejoong! He’s obviously Yunho’s wife, even though neither of them will admit it and he’s far from being a woman AND he never overreacts.” He paused again, “No, Heechul – you were the one who overreacted when he took a bite of your food.” He sighed again, turning and leaning his forehead against the doorframe, lightly banging his head against the solid wood, “No, I did NOT just call you a woman again.”

Suddenly, Kyuhyun shoved into the room past Hankyung, grumpy and not caring he offended his elder. He walked over to the closest bed (Donghae’s) and plopped down, crossing his arms angrily. With his heavy-lidded gaze and mussed hair, it was obvious the young man had been sleeping at some point. The fact that he was wearing just boxers and Zhou Mi, clad in also just his undergarments, came running into the room after him suggested there was a period when Kyuhyun wasn’t sleeping, but neither Donghae, Shiwon, or even Hankyung wanted to observe that more closely.

“What’s going on?” Kyuhyun huffed angrily, “I was asleep and then all I hear is this yelling.”

“Heechul and Hankyung are fighting,” Donghae sighed, leaning his head on the younger man’s shoulder and too tired to do anything else.

“Some fanfiction described Heechul as beautiful and that offended his male ego,” Shiwon explained and then quickly added, “Again.”

“How long have they been fighting?” Zhou Mi asked as he leaned back against the opposite side of the doorframe from the leader.

“Over an hour,” Shiwon muttered resentfully after looking at his bedside clock,

“You’ve been letting this go on for that long?” Kyuhyun asked, startled.

“What do you expect us to do?” Shiwon challenged,

Kyuhyun rolled his eyes as he abruptly stood up from Donghae’s bed, causing the other to topple forward and almost fall onto the ground. He walked up to Hankyung and grabbed the cellular and said into the mouthpiece, “It doesn’t matter what any fanfiction story says about you, hyung, because the members are most important right? Okay, okay, fine… only what Hankyung-hyung says about you is most important right?” He grinned and that alone should have alerted the four other men to his mischievousness, for then he yelled, “HANKYUNG CALLS YOU UGLY ALL THE TIME WHILE WE’RE IN CHINA!” Then, he pressed the ‘end’ button with a flourish, tossed the phone back to Hankyung, grabbed Zhou Mi’s hand and stormed back to their room.

Having barely caught the cellular, Hankyung slowly raised his eyes to the retreating backs of Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi before they disappeared into their room. Once the door slammed behind the pair, Hankyung returned his gaze to the phone. It remained silent.

Hankyung fell to his knees, cradling the phone before him as if it were some fragile object. Then, he groaned, “He’s going to KILL me!”

Donghae and Shiwon glanced at each other before both falling onto their beds. “Good!” Donghae huffed, turning his back on Hankyung. “Now we can get some sleep!” Shiwon added, also turning his back on the SJ-M leader.

Later that evening (morning?), Hankyung got a text message on his phone. It read:

I don’t care what you think! The fanfiction world thinks I’m beautiful!

And when he began to fret that Heechul was truly angry and their relationship was over, a second message followed almost immediately:

Don’t worry. You’re my bitch for life.

Day Ten: Home free

He stretched his arms to the ceiling as he yawned while walking out of the men’s bathroom. He began walking back towards the others when he saw they were all gone save one. He paused a moment, just watching him.

Dressed in sweats and a simple t-shirt, the maknae sat in the middle of a row of seats, surrounded by an assortment of suitcases and duffle bags while only one small luggage belonged to him. He had his earphones in, his face tilted towards the large windows that faced the runway. In his lap was a simple, black baseball cap and the leader of SJ-M had to smile.

Just an hour ago, Henry’s parents had bid them all farewell and safe travels before the seven men went through security and on towards their gate in the airport. The members had politely averted their attention as Henry said goodbye to his parents, but Hankyung had overheard a part of their conversation.

“We’re so very proud of you, Henry.”

His father had said, clapping a hand on the young man’s shoulder. From the corner of his eye, Hankyung had seen Henry suddenly leap towards his father, enclosing him in a bear hug. Silently, his father returned the embrace. When Henry turned towards his mother, she began listing off ways to take care of himself while he was gone.

“And Henry, I lo-… we lo-…”

Hankyung saw she simply raised a hand to his cheek, pressed an affectionate kiss to the other cheek and then run her hand to his cap, gently taking it off his head,

“You know better than to wear your hat inside.”

Taking his hat from her, Henry had leaned his forehead on his mother’s shoulder as she wrapped slender arms around him. When they headed off towards security, Henry had put his hat back on, tugging the bill low to shade his eyes from the other members. Seeing that the maknae had now removed his hat while the others were gone, had made Hankyung miss his own family.

Slowly, the leader made his way over and sat in one of the empty seats beside the maknae. Henry looked over at him and smiled,

“Where are the others?” Hankyung asked,

“Souvenir shopping. Although, I’m pretty sure Shiwon’s looking for a Tim Hortons and a place to buy maple syrup,” Henry said, shaking his head slightly as he smiled.

“We learned a lot about Canada from you, Henry,” Hankyung said, “Had we all believed everything we read on the internet… or, you know, everything Kyuhyun said… we would’ve been so misinformed about Canada.”

Henry nodded as his smile broke into a grin, “Yeah well, Canada can’t be that bad, right? I am Canadian, and I am pretty awesome.”

Hankyung laughed as he reached over and gently ruffled Henry’s hair, “Yeah, you are. Did you enjoy the vacation though? I know with all the misconceptions and Kyuhyun’s mischievousness it was trying on you.”

“It was frustrating at times,” Henry admitted but added immediately, “but it was fun. And really, what can I expect from Kyuhyun-hyung besides his little tricks?” Henry sighed heavily, his grin retreating into a small, almost bittersweet smile, “It felt good to be back here. I didn’t get to see a lot of my old friends, but I talked to some of them… Seeing Mom and Dad – and even my sister – was… well, it was…” He looked down into his lap, toying with the black hat before finishing in a subdued, “…good.”

“I’m glad we did this, then,” Hankyung smiled at him.

“Yeah… thanks, ge,” Henry looked up at him, “You’re pretty awesome, too.”

Hankyung dramatically threw back his head, running a hand through his thick hair, “I know,” he said before looking back at Henry and laughing heartily.

Suddenly, Kyuhyun came running back towards them, managing to jump over the seats and crouch behind them as Zhou Mi slowly followed, a bag of souvenirs in one hand, arms crossed and shaking his head.

“What happened?” Hankyung asked suddenly, turning narrowed eyes to the hiding member,

“Zhou Mi wanted to know where the police guards’ horses were, and when he was asking them, they probably thought he was calling them horses and started chasing him,” Kyuhyun explained as Zhou Mi finally reached them, standing just beyond the barrier of suitcases and duffle bags, his permanent smile somehow missing.

Ryeowook came back, one hand holding Shiwon’s arm, the other holding bags of what were presumably souvenirs and Donghae hanging off of Shiwon’s shoulders. The leader raised his eyebrows in a silent question.

“Shiwon put too much maple syrup in his coffee,” Ryeowook explained as they reached them, releasing Shiwon’s arm and hopping over the various pieces of luggage to sit beside Henry.

“This was the only way we could stop him,” Donghae exclaimed, still hanging on Shiwon who was now crossing his arms over his chest, “He was getting a sugar-high and we were sure he was going to tax himself through gestures – THROUGH HAND GESTURES!”

“Exaggerating,” Shiwon rolled his eyes,

Donghae shook his head in a negative reply, “He’s crossing his arms to further stop himself from gesturing.”

Henry looked at Hankyung, who had begun to pinch the bridge of his nose in an exasperated manner, “It’s back to reality, ge.”

Hankyung sighed as he lowered his hand from his nose and looked at the bickering parties of SJ-M, “Yeah… but it’s…”

“Good?” Henry offered with a grin.

Hankyung smiled at him, picking up Henry’s hat, he slid down enough so he could lean his head against the back of the seat and covered his face with the hat, “It’s still vacation until we board our plane.”

Henry chuckled, “Oh, ge.”

Hankyung tipped the hat off his face enough to look at Henry, “I believe, Henry, that it’s ‘O Canada’.”

Henry’s jaw dropped in silent amusement. Hankyung flashed a grin at him as he pulled out a new stick of Henry’s raspberry-flavoured lip balm and handed it over to the maknae.

“Besides, China has Super Junior – M. So, I win.”

.End.

Day Nine: Kyuhyun is king of the world

It was Sunday and Henry’s parents brought the members into the heart of Ontario’s capital city. Their final sight-seeing stop was the tallest building in the world. At over 300 metres in the air, SJ-M was currently the highest Korean-Mandarin idol group in the world. As they got off the elevator on the lowest level of the Skypod, Henry stumbled into Hankyung, his parents remaining down on the ground and shopping as the members toured the C.N. Tower.

Hankyung grabbed Henry’s arm, “Are you okay, Henry?”

He nodded as he got his bearings and straightened, “That elevator ride always gets to me,” he explained as he shook the fuzziness from his head, “Well, hyungs, look around. There’s a glass floor that you can stand on and look down to the very bottom of the tower, there’s the observation deck that actually is open – it’s securely fenced in, so don’t start thinking things of Canadians being suicidal – so, just look around.”

Within moments of beginning to spread out, Hankyung and Zhou Mi were suddenly swarmed by senior-aged tourists, exclaiming what good looking young men they were.

“Shiwon, Shiwon, Shiwon!” Donghae called in a sing-song voice as he grasped one of Shiwon’s hands with both of his own, “Let’s go to the glass floor!”

Henry watched as Shiwon and Donghae ran off to look for the famous glass floor. When he turned back to the remaining members, Ryeowook was on his own.

“Hyung… where’s Kyuhyun?” Henry asked suspiciously,

Ryeowook shrugged, “He ran off somewhere.” He glanced towards the group of tourists who began taking pictures with Hankyung and Zhou Mi, “Which is surprising considering Zhou Mi looks ready to run away.”

“Mhmm…” Henry spotted Kyuhyun through one of the doors leading to the observation deck, “There he is.” Suddenly, Henry felt two hands grasp his hand and a fierce tug. He looked over to find Ryeowook wrapping his arms around Henry’s one arm, “Hyung?”

Donghae and Shiwon were behind Ryeowook, trying to grab his arms, “C’mon Ryeowook,” Donghae said, “It’s so cool to look down to the ground!”

“No! I don’t want to!” Ryeowook cried out, “Henry! Make them stop!”

Henry looked at the two eldest present and blinked, “What are you two doing?”

“We want to bring Ryeowook to the glass floor!” Shiwon grinned, his cheeks dimpling.

Henry looked to Ryeowook, “It is pretty awesome to look down at the ground from up here, hyung.”

“I don’t care! It’s too high! I don’t care how awesome it is! I don’t care how cool it’ll be! I’d prefer to be un-cool!” Ryeowook exclaimed, his hold tightening ever so slightly around Henry’s arm.

“It’s not like you can fall through it, Ryeowook,” Henry insisted, “It’s very sturdy and, I know it seems pretty sketch, what with a glass floor and an open observation deck, but I promise that Canadians don’t have a tendency towards self-mutilation.”

As Donghae and Shiwon continued to try to pry Ryeowook off of Henry, the Canadian’s eyes slowly drifted away towards where he had seen Kyuhyun. He could see Kyuhyun looking out of the observation deck and then noticed a peculiar movement. Henry watched, perplexed, as Kyuhyun slipped a hand into his pocket and then pulled something out. Henry couldn’t see what it was, clutched in the older man’s hand, but he grew suspicious immediately.

Succeeding where Donghae and Shiwon failed, Henry slipped his arm easily from Ryeowook’s clutches, muttered an ‘excuse me,’ and sprinted towards a door leading to the observation deck. The moment he stepped out, he felt and heard the fierceness of the wind on the observation deck. He made his way towards Kyuhyun,

“What are you doing?” Henry questioned, trying to speak above the roar of the wind,

“I heard that if you dropped a penny from here you could kill someone!” Kyuhyun exclaimed, revealing a small, copper disk in the palm of his hand.

Henry blinked before narrowing his eyes, “SO YOU’RE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE WITH A PENNY!?”

“Well, it’d be nice to know if it’s true!” Kyuhyun stated,

“Give me the penny, Kyuhyun!” Henry extended a hand towards Kyuhyun,

The older man raised an eyebrow, “No. I’m king of the world up here and I want to see what happens when I throw a penny from here!”

“Kyuhyun, don’t do it!” Henry exclaimed,

“TRY AND STOP ME, SHORTY!” Kyuhyun replied, a smirk spreading on his lips.

Henry’s jaw dropped, “I GREW SINCE DEBUT!” Suddenly, he leapt at Kyuhyun, knocking them both to the floor. Straddling Kyuhyun’s abdomen he struggled to pry Kyuhyun’s fingers open in an attempt to take away the murderous penny.

“Henry! People are looking!” Kyuhyun cried out as he tried to stretch his arm away from Henry’s reach,

“I don’t care! They can’t understand!” Henry replied as he was practically laying his torso over Kyuhyun’s as he stretched his arms to grab Kyuhyun’s fisted hand,

“BUT IT LOOKS LIKE WE’RE TRYING TO HAVE SEX!” Kyuhyun complained loudly,

“Then just give me the damn penny!” Henry exclaimed, straightening his torso, glaring down at Kyuhyun and with his arms akimbo,

“What are you two doing!?” Henry and Kyuhyun looked up as Hankyung and Zhou Mi filled one of the doorways from inside. Hankyung had his arms crossed, the leader in him appearing, “Do you know how much attention you two are getting? You both know better than to cause a scene!”

Henry sighed as he crawled off of Kyuhyun and stood up, “I was trying to stop Kyuhyun from committing murder via a penny.”

Kyuhyun subtly slipped the penny into his pocket, “I was just kidding, Henry. Geez, I’m far from having a dark, murderous streak.”

“If you were just trying to get a penny from Kyuhyun, why were you on top of him?” Zhou Mi demanded, his ever-present smile gone and his eyes narrowed angrily,

“He just loves me that much,” Kyuhyun threw the older man an innocent smile, slinging an arm around Henry’s shoulder.

Zhou Mi eyed Kyuhyun’s arm and then stormed back inside the Skypod. Hankyung threw them both a challenging glare, silently daring them to cause more trouble and then followed Zhou Mi back inside.

Allowing Kyuhyun’s arm to remain around his shoulders, Henry crossed his arms over his chest and threw the older man a slanted look, “You planned all that, didn’t you? You knew I’d be watching you and anticipated I’d react like I did to draw Hankyung and Zhou Mi out here.”

“Yup, and now I get jealousy sex later on,” Kyuhyun grinned as he spun back to look out of the observation deck, moving Henry along with him,

Henry shook his head as he looked out at the sky with Kyuhyun, “You’re more diabolical than I thought, Kyuhyun.”

“I’m the king of the world right now, Henry,” Kyuhyun smiled, squeezing his arm affectionately around the maknae’s shoulders, “And later, I’ll be the king of Zhou Mi’s world!”

Henry uncrossed his arms, slipping one behind Kyuhyun’s back, “I’m glad you came to Canada, hyung.”

(Eight day of the O Henry series.)

Day Eight: The best letter in the alphabet

On the eighth day of vacation, the Super Junior-M members found themselves on a boat. The steady, mild rocking of the waves below was coupled with the thunderous roaring of walls of water falling around them.

“The horseshoe belongs to Canada and the other side belongs to the U.S.,” Henry stated as he stood perpendicular to the railing on the boat’s lower level. He and everyone else on the boat wore cheep, thin, blue plastic rain-ponchos to protect themselves from the mist of the waters and, when closer to the waterfalls, the drenching rain. “The Americans get the best view of the falls, but at least coming on the boat makes up for it.”

“This is so cool, Henry,” Ryeowook stated, both hands gripping the railing as he peered at the towering walls of water, the wind whipping the poncho’s hood from his head, “I’ve never gotten to see something like this before!” As Ryeowook looked around, he spotted a familiar face emerging from the inner dwellings of the boat, “Kyuhyun, come look at the Falls!”

Kyuhyun joined Ryeowook and Henry at the railing, “How’s Zhou Mi?” Henry inquired

The second-youngest rolled his eyes, “Green as seaweed. Incidentally, Shiwon’s not looking so well either, so they’re comforting one another.”

“Hankyung and Donghae?”

“On the top level of the boat with your parents,” Kyuhyun answered as he looked up at the waterfalls as the boat slowly neared, “Apparently they’re getting inspiration for new dance moves with the flow of the boat – Ryeowook, what are you doing?”

Ryeowook turned back to them, blushing slightly at having been caught, “Well, I don’t know a lot of English, so I thought while we’re here I should listen as much as possible – not to eavesdrop, but just to listen to the accent and how to properly pronounce words. Anyway,” he turned his back to the railing, “I was wondering why Canadians have a favourite letter.”

Henry blinked and then turned suspicious eyes to Kyuhyun who silently shook his head and shrugged. Hesitantly, he looked away from the ever-mischievous Kyuhyun and looked back to the oldest member present, “Ryeowook… what do you mean?”

“Canadians,” he repeated, “have a favourite letter and I want to know why.”

The maknae leaned a forearm against the railing, “Hate to tell you this, hyung, but Canadians don’t have a favourite letter.”

“But… you do! They do!” Ryeowook insisted, “I hear it all the time whenever I hear Canadians talk.”

Henry speared his fingers through his hair, slightly slicking it with the mist from the water, “I’m almost scared to ask… what letter?”

“The letter ‘A’,” Ryeowook said, “One of the first things I learned was the English alphabet, and I always hear the letter ‘A’ – and, I know it’s the letter because it’s hardly ever followed by a noun, but is usually at the end of the sentence.”

Kyuhyun watched the emotions play on Henry’s face. He saw the maknae resist the urge to either lay his forehead against his forearm, which still rested on the railing, or to sigh and roll his eyes. Kyuhyun, however, had to bite down on his lower lip to stop from laughing when Henry’s suppressive efforts ended in his right eye twitching; Ryeowook all the while staring at him with wide, innocent eyes.

“Ryeowook, Canadians aren’t saying ‘A’, they’re saying ‘eh’,” Henry explained,

Ryeowook blinked, looked at Kyuhyun helplessly and then looked back at Henry, “I don’t hear a difference.”

“Well… listening-wise I guess there isn’t much, but, they’re not saying the letter… it’s more of a… a small, inconsequential word, really,” Henry replied, “It’s used for… well, there are a lot of uses, but it’s usually used for affirmation, like asking someone to agree with what they said. Like…” He paused a moment and said, “‘It’s pretty cold here’ and then they’d say ‘eh’ afterwards to ask for confirmation or agreement from the other person.”

“So, Canadians don’t have a favourite letter?” Ryeowook asked, his expression dropping slightly,

Henry shook his head, “But if it helps, if we did, it probably would be ‘A’.”

Ryeowook sighed as he turned back to the railing as the boat drew even closer to the waterfalls. Folding his arms atop the railing, he leaned his chin on his arms, “And here I was thinking I had learned a new cultural… peculiarity.”

“Well,” Kyuhyun piped up, “You do touch on a Canadian peculiarity, but you have the wrong letter.”

Ryeowook straightened and looked over his shoulder at the younger man, “What do you mean?”

“Canadians think that it’s bad luck to say the letter ‘O’ when you’re on a boat,” Kyuhyun said in a tone so matter-of-factly that Ryeowook was almost inclined to believe him. Almost.

Ryeowook slanted him a look and turned his attention back to the waters, “I don’t believe you! You’ve lied to me on several occasions during this vacation, Jo Kyuhyun. The most recently dealt with hunting for food!”

“I do admit I have gotten… carried away,” Kyuhyun admitted, “But this time, I’m not kidding. Right Henry?”

Before Henry could reply, however, Ryeowook tilted his face up towards the sky, the boat drawing alongside to the foot of the Falls’ crashing waters as he opened his mouth big and yelled, “O!”

What Ryeowook got in return, however, was a mouth full of rain from the Falls. Spitting out the water over the railing, he slowly turned to Kyuhyun and Henry who were holding their hoods tight about their heads. Ryeowook, who had forgotten to raise his hood again, had a head full of soaked hair and a slight salty taste in his mouth. He glowered at the two younger men who were having a hard time not laughing.

“I warned you, hyung,” Kyuhyun swallowed a laugh as he shifted to hide slightly behind Henry.

“Sorry, hyung,” Henry was clutching the railing, in an attempt to stay straight as his body shook with silent laughter, “For once, Kyuhyun was right.”

[00SJ4] Henry likes lipgloss

(Day 4 of the Fanfiction series.)

It was on the fourth day of Heechul’s challenge that those in SJ-M were travelling back to China to do promotions for ‘Super Girl’. Seated on the plane, Henry sat by the window, arms crossed and gaze out the window. The other six members, from the moment they all climbed into the van to head to the airport, hadn’t said a word to the youngest. The way he crossed his arms in rebellion, the way his eyes were slightly narrowed and just the way he kept chewing on his bottom lip emitted an aura of ‘stay the fuck away from me’ that the other members did not want to challenge. So, it was with great surprise – and relief – when Ryeowook voluntarily took the seat next to Henry on the plane.

“How are you doing, Henry?” Ryeowook asked happily, putting on his best smile.

Kyuhyun, who sat in the seats behind them, muttered to Zhou Mi, “You never ask a Canadian ‘how are you doing’ when it’s so obvious they’re pissed. They’re liable to attack with an igloo pick.”

Henry, who had heard every word, chose not to respond to the comment, but could picture Zhou Mi nodding, an expression of adept attention on his innocent-minded face. Instead, Henry muttered, “Fine,” and then continued to stare out the window, chewing on his lip still.

“You’re lip’s bleeding,” Ryeowook commented,

Henry easily licked at his lip before working it once more, the taste of copper on his tongue.

“… Are you sure nothing’s wrong?” Ryeowook attempted again,

“I don’t care about the honesty pact,” Henry muttered, his tone bitter and resentful.

Ryeowook blinked, “Honesty pact? For what?”

“Heechul’s challenge,” Henry replied, “I don’t care about all he said that we have to be honest, because frankly, I could hate every piece of fanfiction in the world – EVEN FROM CANADA – and I will never, never admit that he is right.”

“Has a fanfiction gotten little Henry upset?” Kyuhyun teased as he stood, draping himself over the back of Ryeowook’s seat.

“Go away,” Henry muttered,

“What was it that got you angry?” Kyuhyun continued, his tone teasing and in a sing-song manner, “Was it about you being Canadian? How about the way Shiwon-hyung speaks better mandarin than you? Oh – oh! I know – how you’re always paired with Ryeowook!”

“What’s wrong with me?” Ryeowook gasped,

“None of those and,” Henry finally looked at the member beside him, “Nothing’s wrong with you, hyung.”

“Then what’s wrong?” Zhou Mi inquired. The entire time he had been trying to tug Kyuhyun back into his seat, hissing at him to leave Henry alone. However, he finally relented to also standing and looking over Henry’s seat, joining in on the conversation.

“I think the biggest insult is that she’s also Canadian,” Henry said, turning his glare out the window.

The other three members looked at one another before asking, in unison, “WHAT IS!?”

“I was on this Super Junior fanfiction site, and whenever I come up in a story, I always have raspberry lip gloss and I’m always applying it or something like that,” Henry explained, “I want to set the record straight with her that I use lip chap; not gloss!”

“Is that why you haven’t used your lip chap at all today?” Ryeowook asked, noticing that Henry’s bottom lip was red and raw and, once again, had the slight tinge of blood smeared across it.

“Yes… no… DAMN IT, I DO NOT USE LIP GLOSS!” Henry exclaimed.

Those nearest to them suddenly became quiet. Hankyung approached from his seat, closer to the front than theirs, “Henry!” Hankyung hissed, “Why are you yelling?”

It happened in a flash, but somehow, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi managed to grab a hold of Henry as he lunged towards the SJ-M leader. Hankyung, used to being randomly attacked because of Heechul, didn’t even flinch. Instead, he stood perfectly still and raised a single eyebrow in silent questioning.

“It’s your damn boyfriend’s fault!” Henry hissed angrily,

Hankyung glanced at the stares aimed their way by other passengers, “I don’t have a boyfriend,” and then added in a more rushed whisper, “Shut up!”

“Him and his damn challenge!” Henry exclaimed, “I would’ve been perfectly happy with life! I would’ve been ignorantly blissful without ever reading a single fanfiction about myself if it weren’t for your damn –” Finally noticing that other people were still staring, he finished in a low whisper, “Heechul.”

“Why are you attacking me when it isn’t my challenge?” Hankyung questioned,

“Because it’s your Heechul,” Henry grounded out, “And you could’ve stopped him! While no one else could have - you would have! Now look! My happiness has been destroyed by the knowledge of how people think of me in the fanfiction world!”

“But it’s just one girl,” Kyuhyun said dryly, plopping down in his seat and getting bored with the situation already,

“But she’s Canadian, too!” Henry emphasized as he fell back into his seat. He leaned his forehead against the window, staring forlornly at the mockingly bright sky, “Even my own people are against me.”

“… Chinese people?” Hankyung offered,

“No! My other people,” Henry sighed,

“The fans?” Ryeowook piped,

“NO! CANADIANS!” Henry flung his arms exasperatedly into the air. “That damn Cheonsa could at least get the facts right… that it’s lip chap, not lip gloss,” He muttered resentfully as he finally pulled out a small tube of said lip chap and applied a thin layer,

“Exactly,” Ryeowook nodded in agreement, “And how you prefer strawberry lip gloss, not raspberry!”

What ensued before the flight attendants came and asked everyone to take their seats was Henry shoving his lip chap back into his pocket before attempting to attack Ryeowook, Hankyung trying to protect the third youngest member, Kyuhyun laughing while Zhou Mi tried to hush him and Ryeowook watching Henry with an innocent look on his face as he asked,

“Are you angry because I said strawberry?”

(Day 5: Ryeowook needs to talk more)
