(Sequel to Not Mine)
Dedicated to Royce because he thinks I make a big deal about toothpaste.
Kyuhyun was in the bathroom again. He was climbing into the shower, placing a tube of toothpaste back on one of the little shelves in the corner.
"It's good to know you haven't been injured this time," Sungmin stated, amused, as he leaned a shoulder against the doorframe, arms crossed loosely about his torso.
"Oh, you weren't here to see me take it out of the shower this morning," Kyuhyun huffed as he stepped out of the shower and headed over to the sink. He held up a second tube of toothpaste, "Thankfully, I'll never have to do that again."
Sungmin blinked, "You bought a second tube?"
"You refuse to keep the toothpaste by the sink and I refuse to keep the toothpaste in the shower. It seemed a logical progression of the matter," Kyuhyun shrugged as he pulled out his toothbrush and squirted a thick line of blue toothpaste onto the bristles, "I don't know why I didn't think about it sooner."
Sungmin quirked a smile as he walked into the bathroom and sat on the closed toilet lid, "So I get my own tube of toothpaste now?"
Kyuhyun nodded as he began to brush his teeth, silenced by the foaming paste.
"Most people get a drawer at the other's place, but I find this far more special. Who else can claim that they have their own tube of toothpaste?" Sungmin chuckled as he leaned back against the back of the toilet and grinned up at Kyuhyun, "It shows a certain amount of intimacy doesn't it? It speaks of time beyond the bed, beyond just pillow talk. Indeed, it hints at bathroom shenanigans."
Kyuhyun rolled his eyes as he stopped brushing to spit out extra toothpaste into the sink, "It's a little ridiculous how much toothpaste is involved in our relationship."
"Ah, but that's what makes our relationship different - and better - than other relationships," Sungmin said as he stood up and came to stand behind Kyuhyun,
"For goodness sake, Min, we're talking about toothpaste," Kyuhyun shook his head, "In fact, I think we talk about toothpaste far too much." He continued brushing his teeth.
"Oh, come on, Kyuhyun," Sungmin murmured as he drew right up against Kyuhyun's back, his lips pressing kisses along the younger man's neck, "I mentioned bathroom shenanigans."
"Brushing teeth," Kyuhyun managed past the toothpaste in his mouth,
"I can do more than just brush my teeth in the shower," Sungmin suggested as his hands slowly roamed to the front of Kyuhyun's pyjama bottoms.
Kyuhyun sputtered, bending over the sink and spitting out the toothpaste, "Not when I'm brushing, Min! I could have choked on toothpaste! Of all things - toothpaste!"
"At least you can't blame it on my toothpaste," Sungmin laughed softly as he drew away from Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun quickly rinsed out his mouth and wiped his face dry with a towel. He turned on Sungmin who had been standing idly by the door. He went up to the older man and planted his hands on the door on either side of the other's shoulders,
"Out of all the nonsense that's come out of your mouth this evening, you did make one good point," Kyuhyun stated seriously,
Sungmin raised a brow, "The one about bathroom shenanigans? Well, I'm certainly up for that," he grinned as his hands went to the younger man's hips, pulling them firmly together.
"I'm being serious here, Sungmin," Kyuhyun said firmly,
"Kyuhyun, I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. We've been talking about toothpaste this entire time," Sungmin sighed, his hands relaxing on the other's hips, but remaining there all the same.
"I'm talking about you having your own tube of toothpaste here," Kyuhyun stated, "I'm talking about you having more than just a drawer in my dresser."
"I'm not sure you're aware of this, Kyuhyun, but a tube of toothpaste... a little bit smaller than a drawer full of stuff," Sungmin said lightly.
While he appreciated the gesture of getting his own tube of toothpaste, he had tried to make it seem more important than it actually was. They had been together for some time, they loved each other and he spent most of his waking moments at Kyuhyun's apartment. However, he still hadn't even been given the traditional drawer for his belongings; the sacred space which would hold a few of his personal items within the sanctum of his boyfriend's home. He had waited for the offer. Ever since Kyuhyun had said those fateful three words, he had anticipated the moment he'd be given an empty drawer to fill. However, it hadn't happened.
"Damn it, we need to stop talking about that damn toothpaste. This isn't about toothpaste, Sungmin," Kyuhyun practically growled as he pushed away from the door and out of Sungmin's loose hold. He padded into the hall and straight to his bedroom, hands raking through his thick hair. He muttered, "Why is it always so difficult to talk to you about these things?"
"What things? I still think we're talking about toothpaste!" Sungmin stated exasperatedly as he followed the younger man into the bedroom,
"You know how hard it is for me to talk about my feelings. You know how hard it is for me to talk about the really important things because I'm scared," Kyuhyun stated, whirling around to face the other man, "But I do it because I know it's important for you to hear it, because you need words along with actions, so I talk."
"That was before, Kyuhyun. I understand, I really do. After when you told me about it," Sungmin insisted as he tried to close the distance between them, "I love it so much when you say you love me, but I know how hard it is for you to say the words. I don't need the words, Kyu, I really don't. I understand you better now."
Kyuhyun held up his hands to stop Sungmin from coming closer to him, "Just... just wait and let me speak."
Sungmin swallowed hard and nodded.
"I... It scares me to say things about how I feel and what I think, but when it comes to you, I'm okay with being scared. I'm okay with it because I know that you'll be there," Kyuhyun said, "I'm okay with talking about the important things because I would rather be scared talking about feelings than being scared about you leaving me because I don't talk about feelings."
"Kyuhyun, it's okay -"
He held up a hand to silence him again, "But I know a way that will make things easier for me is if you're always around."
"I'm already always around," Sungmin stated,
"No, you're mostly always around," Kyuhyun said, gaze steady and locked with the other's, "Sungmin, I'm asking you to move in with me."
Sungmin's eyes widened, blinking, "What?"
"Getting a second tube of toothpaste... that's because I mean to have you here for the long-run, because I mean to have you here so often that I can't risk going to retrieve the toothpaste every day," Kyuhyun explained, "I mean for you to have your own things here alongside my own. That's what that tube of toothpaste means."
Sungmin closed the distance between them in a heartbeat, pulling Kyuhyun to him and kissing him firmly. He pulled back, but kept his hands craddling the younger man's jaw.
"Does this mean yes?" Kyuhyun asked tentatively as he tried to read Sungmin's eyes,
"It means only you would be able to make a tube of toothpaste more better and more romantic than an empty drawer for my things," Sungmin said as he leaned in, brushing his lips against Kyuhyun's,
"So this is a really big yes?" Kyuhyun prompted, suddenly needing to hear the affirmative, to make it all real, complete,
Sungmin laughed softly, suddenly understanding the irony of his boyfriend's question, "Yes, I'll move in with you."
Sungmin kissed him again, all his emotions in that kiss. Kyuhyun understood perfectly his actions, the meaning behind them, but Kyuhyun found the need to say them aloud anyway. He smiled against Sungmin's kiss,
